A Call to Build Medical Facility

A Call to Build Medical Facility

Over 10 years, Medical Missions Africa (MeMA)has been holding medical camps aimed to provide medical services to the underprivileged and marginalized people of the Tiaty sub-county.  MeMA has conducted medical camps in different stations including, Narpokume, Natan, Toporerwo Topulen, Chemolingot, Chesitet, Amaya, Silale, Ribkwo, and Tangulbei areas in Tiaty Subcounty

The medical services provided included medical laboratory, dental care, eye, general clinic, pharmacy, and spiritual department. Due to our involvement, the community gave us land in Tapererwo to build a health center.

Statistically, there is a great need for a comprehensive eye camp that will involve health education, check-ups, corrections, and corrective surgery. There is a need to carry out public health campaigns in areas of hygiene and health living and programs especially immunization and vaccination of children. So many children are not immunized at all, this exposes them to so many fatalities during their childhood. These statistics are just a true reflection of absence of medical personnel in the area. This calls for attention of the Ministry of health at the county level and in the short term comprehensive training of community health workers from the stations would help in attending to the basic health needs.

Therefore, the health facility we will built on a 20-acre piece of land, the community donated to MeMA. It aims at providing curative, preventive and health promotion services to Toporerwo community in Tiaty sub-county. It’s a modest facility that serves a low-income patient population and charges relatively low fees. In its initial phase, it will provide outpatient and community-based services envisioned to expand to serve the entire regions of Baringo East.
